One fine day of play at the studio table.
I am gradually transitioning from the classroom to my home studio, focusing on creativity within the rhythms of daily life. The remnants of art scattered across my studio have become catalysts for inspiration, embodying my journey through emotional complexities and everyday challenges. Using collage, paint, and thread, I salvage and transform these materials into abstract designs, crafting folded and sewn pieces on board. Each work is a blend of technical skill and therapeutic release, capturing the joy and tranquility of art-making while rejuvenating my spirit.
My approach to art emphasises well-being, shaped by the lessons learned from daily interactions and experiences. Through this process, we soften, reflect, and heal. After years of assessing creativity, I now see art as a space for deeper growth, prompting inquiry and fostering connection and health.
Do I always create this way? Not necessarily. My artistic practice evolves with each life stage, influenced by new discoveries and challenges. I’ve committed to a daily, or at least weekly, art practice that nourishes my spirit, enabling me to better support others and engage with the world—my Ikigai.
